Improving Well-being one Stitch at a Time
Looking for ways to reduce screen-time, meet fellow yarners, crochet or knit for a good cause, and generally have more fun? Then these programs are for you!
Research shows yarn crafts help reduce stress, depression, and anxiety and improve overall well-being. They may even help reduce dementia risks and increase longevity.
You can also reduce anxiety by decluttering your craft room and rehousing unneeded supplies with us!

#4 Worsted-Yarn Approach!
The four strands of our yarn program "twist" together to support our community and improve well-being.
Emergency Blanket Program
Supporting students and families in crisis with blankets, hats, scarfs, and more. Use the supplies donated by our supporters and make items to support students and families in need.
Yarn Drop-in Sessions
Reduce stress and increase well-being by joining us for regular yarn drop-in sessions. Bring your own project (knitting, crochet, other), or use our supplies and make an item for our emergency support or yarn-creature programs.
Inspirational Yarn-Creatures
Spread joy! Help us make these adorable creatures. (Shared with members of our community, and included in emergency and welcome back to campus packages).
Yarn-craft Classes
We've had so many requests for lessons that we added these sessions to help you learn the basics! Check out our classes.
Reduce stress by decluttering your craft room and rehousing unneeded supplies with us!
If you are anything like the yarners in our community, you probably have loads of half-used balls of yarn, and a variety of other supplies you no longer need or use.
Cluttered craft rooms can lead to feelings of anxiety, stress, guilt, and even inadequacy (for not getting around to finishing projects). Who needs that kind of negativity?
You can reduce stress by decluttering your craft room and rehousing unneeded supplies with us.
We'll make the items you donate into Yarn-creatures, blankets, hats, scarfs, etc. You'll be contributing to the well-being of the uWaterloo community and your own peace at the same time!
