These adorable creatures bring joy and inspiration everywhere they go!
There are three ways to participate:
1. Donate
Reduce stress by decluttering your craft room and rehousing unneeded supplies with us!
If you are anything like the yarners in our community, you probably have loads of half-used balls of yarn, and a variety of other supplies you no longer need.
Cluttered craft rooms can lead to feelings of anxiety, stress, guilt, and even inadequacy (for not getting around to finishing projects). Who needs that kind of negativity?
We'll make the items you donate into Yarn-creatures, blankets, hats, scarfs, etc. You'll be contributing to the well-being of the uWaterloo community and your own peace at the same time!
Supplies can be dropped-off at:
- The Engineering Undergraduate Office (E2 1772)
- Main Office (Cambridge Campus)
- Any Yarn drop-in session
- or email the Community Well-being Team to arrange a drop-off/pick-up.
2. Create
Create creatures for the program!
Looking for ways to reduce screen-time, meet fellow yarners, crochet or knit for a good cause, and generally have more fun? Join us at any of our Yarn Stress-buster Drop-in sessions and create these adorable creatures!
Emotional support amigurumi (small stuffed creatures made from yarn) are all the range! They are fun to make, and fun to receive.
We have a (limited) selection of supplies donated by members of our community, as well as a selection of patterns. Join us and stitch some joy for our community members. We will add the positivity and emotional support sayings for you.
Creatures are given-out at well-being events, or provide to strategic partners to give to those in need.
Prefer to crochet or knit on your own? We got you! You can take supplies with you and drop-off your completed creature.
Don't do amigurumi but still want to contribute? We got you covered again! Consider creating hats, mitts, scarfs, or a square for the emergency blanket program.

3. Receive
Adopt a creature!
These adorable creatures all need good homes, otherwise they can't spread their joy!
They really want to spread joy and inspire you. Take them home and enjoy them, or give them to friends in need of inspriation.
