Calm

Calm refers to calming the mind and releasing mental-emotional tension. Stress and mental-emotional tension, as well as worries, grief, and other cognitive demands created by extended mental focus, solving complicated problems, and switching between tasks, can cause us to feel drained, tired, and (over time) potentially lead to burn-out.

Below are some activities and can increase mental relaxation and help release mental tension.

  • Listen to calming music
  • Create a nice fragrance in your home
  • Colouring, drawing, or other forms of creative expression
  • Keeping a gratitude journal
  • 30 Second Pause (just stop what you are doing for 30 seconds, sit quietly and breathe)
  • Meditation
  • Deep breathing
  • Time with pets (including robotic pets)
  • Forest bathing or time in nature
  • Read an inspirational quote or listen to an inspirational podcast
