Alumni Office Hour: Leaning in, making connections and breaking into tech with a non-tech degree with Insiya Cuttleriwala (BES '18, ENBUS)
When an 8-month coop job at Facebook caught her eye, Insiya Cuttleriwala (BES '18, ENBUS) didn’t feel qualified. But having recently learned in Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In that most females only apply for jobs they are 100% qualified for, she decided to throw her hat into the ring filled with engineering students, and she landed the job. Turning a co-op placement into a full-time job, however, took time, patience and maintaining connections.
After Facebook, Insiya went on to gain more marketing experience at other companies but maintained her network with former Facebook colleagues. That commitment eventually led to her being recruited into her current role where she helps companies optimize their marketing dollars through Facebook's products.

Client Solutions Manager at Facebook
Insiya graduated from the Environment and Business program in 2018, and over time has developed a diverse experience in marketing from roles in product, lead generation and performance marketing. Today she works at Facebook as a Client Solutions Manager guiding strategy and long term growth for clients such as Kraft, Coca-Cola and McDonald’s to help them achieve their business goals by utilizing Facebook and Instagram.
In her spare time, Insiya also uses her experience to volunteer with non-profit organizations such as Digital Main Street to help struggling small and medium businesses digitize in the wake of the pandemic. She uses her experience as a connector to bring people and businesses together, helping connect people with solutions.

The Leadership Series was created in 2016 to provide Faculty of Environment students an opportunity to connect with, and learn from, a broad range of faculty alumni through themed discussions and small-group networking. Building on its success, Alumni Office Hours was launched in winter 2021 to facilitate bi-monthly online events hosted by alumni on a variety of career-related topics. The series gives students a chance to connect with alumni in a smaller, more comfortable setting to learn about career paths, broaden their perspectives and hone desirable career skills.
