Anishinaabe-Odawa alumni shares her career journey

Biim shkwaa-she’ Chichok, Mukwa dodem, Odawa Anishinabekwe. Lynda Trudeau is from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. She is the current General Manager of De-ba-jeh-mu-jig Theatre Group / Debajehmujig Storytellers, an Indigenous multi arts organization focused on the advancement and preservation of Anishinaabe storytelling, through brave and courageous works of art - additionally building bridges between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous persons, both in rural and urban settings.

Over the course of her public service career, Lynda has achieved many goals and has earned recognition for work in Indigenous governance and management. She has been privileged and honoured to work with political, cultural and arts leaders in Ontario, as well as Canada.

An accomplished Indigenous contributor, Lynda has over 20 years experience of governance, public affairs, community engagement, and senior administrative experience; Currently, Lynda is appointed as a Trustee for the National Indian Brotherhood Trust Fund. As well, she is an advisory member for St. Francis Xavier Coady Institute's The Circle of Abundance, a contributing member of the Creative Indigenous Spaces project with Arts Build Ontario and the Indigenous Arts Knowledge Exchange collaborative. Finally, Lynda has recently completed the Business/ Arts Executive Leadership Mentorship Program, where she was selected as one of ten Arts leaders across Canada to transition and extend current leadership to take on roles to lead (and build, as Lynda hopes) Canada’s larger Arts Institutions.

In her current capacity as General Manager for Debajehmujg, Lynda is tasked with management, operations, and strategic implementation to Indigenization, both tactically and critically.

A graduate of the University of Waterloo's Master of Environment and Business program, Northwood University Bachelor of Business Administration, St. Francis Xavier University’s Coady Institutes’ Indigenous Women in Leadership, and Cambrian College of Applied Arts and Technology’s Business Administration - Business Management diploma program, Lynda is currently working on sustainability for Economic, Environment, Social, and cultural challenges in alignment with the United Nations Social Development Goals and through governance perspectives and an Indigenous lens.
