Viridiana works at the intersection between business and sustainability. Helping lead the transition to the low carbon economy is her deepest passion and career goal. Her work touches on various areas of sustainability, from ensuring corporate boards are sufficiently diverse, to understanding the exposure to climate-related risks and opportunities of investment portfolios, to working towards furthering investor understanding of sustainability issues for their own investment processes.

She has worked for one of Canada’s largest institutional investors, helping develop and implement their responsible investment strategy, and she is now part of the largest pure-play sustainability consulting firm helping clients in different sectors develop and implement their sustainability strategies and decarbonization goals.

Contributing to the community in which she lives is essential for Viridiana. Before moving to Toronto, she chaired the Granting Committee at the AIMCo Foundation for Financial Education, overseeing grants to organisations that provide financial literacy programs across Alberta whose target populations range from Junior-high students to newcomers to Canada, to women who have been victims of domestic violence.

Viridiana is also the Impact Officer, Edmonton Hub, of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers program. This program is designed to empower youth to create meaningful change in their local communities and around the world. Early in 2021 she was the Davos Labs lead for the hub hosting local dialogues to gather insights on the future of politics and inclusive jobs, insights which were aggregated at the global level and were presented at the WEF’s special annual meeting in November 2021.
