Geography and Environmental Management Top Academic Achiever 2017

Samantha’s scholarly success shines through her impressive 93.53% cumulative average in Geography and Environmental Management, while her work-ethic and passion is evident in her community involvement, work abroad and extensive environmental advocacy. During her years as a Waterloo student, Samantha was a teaching assistant for two courses, an Environment and Visitor’s Centre ambassador, and an international peer mentor.

Samantha’s consistent academic performance is recognized as part of the top 1% within the university. During her fourth-year capstone research project she excelled through her engagement in the course, and received the top mark of 98% on her final paper about the tourism opportunities and challenges presented by Indonesia’s volcanic landscapes. Her research paper is currently in preparation for publication in the International Journal of Sustainable Development and World Ecology.

As one of Samantha’s professors stated, “Sam is a very personable, talented and academically gifted student” and is often praised for her commitment and enthusiasm in everything she does.
