FRSC honours IQC Director

IQC Director, Raymond Laflamme, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, also known as the Academies of Arts, Humanities and Sciences of Canada

Raymond Laflamme, Director of IQC has been named to Canada's highest academic honour. Founded in 1882, RSC is Canada's senior and most prestigious scholarly organization, says a news release.

This years new Fellows will be inducted at a ceremony to be held November 15 in Ottawa.

Says the Royal Society's citation: Raymond Laflamme has solved both practical and theoretical problems of fundamental importance to quantum information processing, and has been a leader in bringing Canada to international prominence in this field. He elucidated theoretical approaches to quantum error correction, which set the benchmark in this field, and gave the first experimental demonstrations of these techniques.
