IQC welcomes our newest faculty member.

Let's give a warm IQC welcome to Ben Reichardt, our newest faculty member. Ben has just arrived from lovely Pasadena, where he did a postdoc at Caltech. He can now be found at RAC 2113.

Ben works in the area of fault tolerance for quantum computing, and completed his PhD in 2006 at the University of California, Berkeley, under Umesh Vazirani's supervision. In his thesis, he gave the first proof that fault tolerance schemes based on noise detection could in fact function in the presence of noise, and established a lower bound threshold of 0.1% noise per gate. Ben is currently working on quantum algorithms for evaluating formulas.

Welcome Ben!
