A full day is planned for Saturday, December 5, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm ending with a dinner for all participants. On Sunday we will end at 4:00 pm.
The Teaching Quantum Technology workshop (TQT) will comprise of:
- 25% lectures
- 50% hands-on and investigatory activities
- 25% enrichment activities
You will also participate in a daily one-hour round table on how to incorporate what you’ve learned into your curriculum.
Lectures include:
- The rise of quantum mechanics as the ultimate theory of nature
- What is quantum information science and technology
- How quantum technology will revolutionize today and tomorrow’s society
You will get the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities including:
- Working with polarizers to explain quantum superposition and entanglement
- Using pens to demonstrate the Uncertainty principle
- Measuring the width of a hair by revisiting the Double slit experiment
- Studying the quantization of the atomic spectra
- Demonstrating how quantum cryptography works using coins and boxes
- Playing the quantum coin flip game you can never lose
For your own learning, we will be offering some additional enrichment activities including a:
- Quantum cryptography demo that you will design and build
- Tour the state-of-the-art laboratories of IQC
- Keynote lecture on quantum technology
