WIN Seminar with Masahiro Motosuke

The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) is pleased to present a seminar with Masahiro Motosuke, Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tokyo University of Science (TUS), Japan, as well as the Director of the Water Frontier Research Center at the Research Institute for Science and Technology, TUS.

This seminar, "Microfluidic interfacial sensing and control for smart energy and future diagnosis," will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 11 a.m. in QNC 1501.

We are excited to announce that the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) is partnering with the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC) to host a special Pitches and Demos event on October 2nd at Quantum Nano Center (QNC). This unique gathering will feature a Dutch Startup Delegation in quantum-nanotechnology area, who are exploring collaborative opportunities in our vibrant Waterloo community. The Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) is pleased to present a seminar with David Rivas, a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering Professor at the University of Twente, Research affiliate at MIT, USA and an Invited Professor at the Dermatology Department, Erasmus MC Hospital, Rotterdam, NL.

This seminar, "Microfluidics enables process intensification with cavitation and inertial ballistic," will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m. in QNC 1501.

Healing eyes with contact lenses

A cross-disciplinary University of Waterloo team has developed a new contact lens material that could act as a bandage for corneal wounds while releasing drugs in a controlled manner to help the eye heal faster.

In the quest to reach zero emissions by 2050, Waterloo engineering researcher Dr. Xianguo Li and Dr. Samaneh Shahgaldi from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) are working with industry partners to develop more efficient, durable, cost-effective fuel cells. 

Free Electron Laser facility at Waterloo gets $10M funding boost

The Government of Canada announced that the University of Waterloo Canadian Free Electron Laser project will be getting $10 million in funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to put towards the $50+ million facility to be built on the Waterloo Campus.
