The University of Waterloo and the University of Twente in the Netherlands are pleased to announce the Strategic Collaboration Grant (SCG), open to all UW faculty members working jointly with University of Twente researchers. The SCG is designed to advance each institution’s strategic priorities in the specific areas of collaboration, namely in the theme areas of nanotechnology, bioengineering & biotechnology, health, and water.
Seed funding grants are for a duration of 24 months (2 years) valued around $16,000 CAD for UW researchers matched at €11,000 for Twente collaborators. This call is open to teams wishing to initiate UW-Twente collaboration, or to further existing collaborations. Funds are to support partnership-building activities such as workshops, preparatory research or background work, attending virtual conferences, and exploring external funding opportunities sponsored by respective national funding programs, and other similar activities.
As WIN and the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology at Twente have been strong research partners for many years, this would be an excellent opportunity to enhance current partnerships, or a way to facilitate a new collaboration.
Application forms for UW researchers are found HERE.
Application Deadline is Wednesday, 8 November, 2023 at 5:59pm Eastern/11:59pm Central European Time.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
