Silicon Nanostructures for Biomedical and Energy Applications

Silicon nanostructures are an important class of nanomaterials with a great potential for wide-ranging applications arising from their many attractive properties, such as biocompatibility, abundance, and unique electronic/optical/mechanical properties, due to the small size and large surface-to-bulk ratio. The attractive properties and a growing interest in their design and synthesis have fueled extensive investigations of silicon nanostructures in recent years. In this talk, Professor Lee will introduce our systematic efforts on the developments of silicon nanostructures to be a new, powerful platform for biological and biomedical applications, including biosensors, bioimaging, and cancer therapy. This talk will highlight systematic research on Si nanostructures for biomedical and renewable energy applications.
