WIN Entrepreneurship Series: Five steps in commercialization workflow of your research

Monday, June 22, 2020 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

We are living in times of extraordinary advancement of technology. A significant contribution to this innovation is coming from companies that were just a group of students a few years ago doing their graduate research, and now their ideas have grown to become multimillion international businesses. These successes would not have happened without access to educational resources and tremendous support. The University of Waterloo has entrepreneurship embedded in its DNA. Year after year, UWaterloo is ranked #1 in Canada (and #20 in the World according to 2017 PitchBook rankings) of universities that produce the most venture capitalist-backed entrepreneurs. Nanotechnology research and education programs at UWaterloo have measurably affected the local entrepreneurship scene. Several dozens of companies spun off from the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology research labs and/or started by our nano-graduates. Impressive, don’t you think? Have you ever thought of joining the pack?

In this Nanotechnology Entrepreneurship series, we hope to complement existing educational programming on the campus. We have partnered with Concept, the entrepreneurship programming hub for UWaterloo students, and the Waterloo Commercialization Office (WatCo), a group of business professionals helping protect your research inventions and translate them into economic opportunities.

This seminar is being delivered via WebEx. If you do not already have the WebEx app or browser installed, you will be prompted to do so to join the meeting.
