CityUHK AND UW Joint Seed funding : Winners Announcement

Congratulations to the recipients of the Joint CityUHK–UW Seed Fund, supporting innovative collaborations in health and life sciences.

Launched this Winter term by WIN, the Faculty of Health and the Office of Research at the University of Waterloo, in partnership with the City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), the program recognizes outstanding projects advancing research in health and life science technologies. Designed to strengthen international collaboration and support early-stage research, each selected project receives HK$100,000 and CAD$26,000 in funding.

The funded projects include a collaborations between

  • Emmanuel Ho (School of Pharmacy, WIN) and Christy Hung (Neuroscience, CityUHK), focusing on “Nanoparticle Delivery of Amyloid Precursor Protein Antisense Oligonucleotides for Alzheimer’s Disease” 
  • Evelyn Yim (Chemical Engineering, WIN) and Chia Hung Chen (Biomedical Engineering, CityUHK) developing “Granular Hydrogel Scaffold (GHS) with Luminal Topography for Stem Cell Differentiation and Physiological Biomechanical Properties for Airway Tissue Engineering”.

These projects highlight the strength of global partnerships and the potential for high-impact, cross-institutional research in addressing key challenges in health and life sciences.
