A WIN member and electrical and computer engineering professor has been named a 2021 fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), the country’s longest-standing engineering society.
Karim Karim was recognized for his “excellence in engineering and services to the profession and to society.”
Along with serving as an ECE professor, he is executive director of the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Bioengineering and Biotechnology and director of Silicon Thin Film Applied Research at the University of Waterloo.
Karim is the founder and CTO of KA Imaging, a Waterloo spinoff company. KA Imaging recently initiated a clinical trial at Kitchener's Grand River Hospital to image lung cancer patients with one of its products.
He will be honoured as a fellow at the next EIC Gala scheduled for spring 2022.
