John McPhee, a systems design engineering professor, and Willem Petersen, a systems design engineering postdoc, captured one of two best paper awards at the recent ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) International Conference on Advanced Vehicle Technologies held in Portland Oregon.
The paper, for which Petersen was the lead author, focused on his and McPhee's work into planetary rover modelling, simulations and experiments. The winning piece was an extension of the research that Petersen (left) and McPhee (right) presented at the ISTVS conference in South Africa last fall for which they won the best presentation award.
