WATonoBus on the road
Congratulations to professor Amir Khajepour and his research team in Mechatronic Vehicle Systems Laboratory for their successful launch of the WATonoBus. WATonoBus is showcasing around the campus after many years of research on autonomous transportation. This is an important milestone to be reached because the WATonoBus is the first of its kind developed by a Canadian academic institution. In addition, this project also has another technological significance. Thanks to the partnership with Rogers, this shuttle became the first in Canada to run remotely over Rogers 5G network.

“Today’s demonstration represents over four years of work with support and collaboration with government and industry partners,” professor Amir Khajepour said. “This is an exciting step forward in autonomous, driverless public transportation.”
