Rick Culham hosted the Annual Faculty and Staff Awards Dinner, Jan 22, 2020. 

The awards are for all of Engineering and MME were a very honoured and celebrated group.  Of note, Kevin Musselman took home three prestigious awards, Carolyn Hansson received two lectureship awards, Sushanta Mitra won the ICNMM 2019 award for Prominent Research, Pearl Sullivan became a Fellow in the Canadian Academy of Engineering.

On Saturday February 7^th, about 4oo children aged 9-14 years old participated in the FIRST LEGO League West Provincial Championship hosted by the University of Waterloo.  The winners of this event represent Ontario at the World Championship in Detroit from April 29-May 2

In the quest to reach zero emissions by 2050, researchers are working with industry partners to develop more efficient, durable, cost-effective fuel cells.  

Waterloo engineering professor Dr. Xianguo Li and Dr. Samaneh Shahgaldi from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), with support from Niobay Metals and Mitacs, are working to refine the technology of metallic bipolar plates to improve the potential of hydrogen in decarbonization. 

A former Waterloo Engineering student is giving up his 2022 salary and bonus at the multi-billion-dollar autonomous trucking company he co-founded to support youth robotics and STEM education.

Martine McGregor is pursuing a PhD degree in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo under the supervision of Dr. Stewart McLachlin, PhD, PEng.

Congratulations to Alex Rodrigues and Brandon Moak, former MME students, on their recently announced merger. Rodrigues and Moak started approximately five years ago during their second years and now have a market capitalization of over 5 billion USD.
