The 2015 International Autonomous Robot Racing Challenge is now complete, and it was a very exciting event with multiple teams showing big gains in terms of racing autonomy. The weather was rather wet on Friday, but Saturday was gorgeous, sunny and hot, and we had a great day of drag and circuit racing. All teams demonstrated true autonomy on the drag course, and both Waterloo and Western completed the entire circuit course loop autonomously.
Carolyn Hansson is named as a new Member of the
Order of Canada for her contributions as a materials engineer whose efforts have reduced corrosion and improved the performance of reinforced concrete structures.
UWAFT performed extremely well at this year's EcoCAR 3 Competition that took place Seattle, WA May 29th to June 5th, 2015; in what is by far the most competitive Advanced Vehicle Technology Competition yet. UWAFT achieved the following resulting in over $10,000 U.S. in prize monies:

Waterloo’s Formula Hybrid racing team edged out other top university race cars at this year’s Formula Hybrid International Competition taking first place overall in the competition.

Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering's very own graduate student, Elahe Jabari, has been chosen as one of the top ten University of Waterloo finalists for the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition.
We encourage everyone to cheer on Elahe during the final competition which will be held on Thursday, April 2, from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. in the Humanities Theatre, Hagey Hall.

Six students are honoured as the top co-op students in their Faculties at the University of Waterloo
A Waterloo student who co-founded an oil and gas startup has won a national award for best co-op student of the year in Canada. He is among six students who received the University of Waterloo's top award for co-op students in their Faculties.
