Speaker: Luisa Sotomayor PhD, MCIP, RPP

Dr. Luisa Sotomayor is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University, where she is also the Coordinator of the MES Planning Program. Her research and teaching focus on urban inequalities, governance, urban politics, community planning and housing. Luisa holds a PhD and a M.Sc. in Planning from the University of Toronto, and a B.A. in Sociology from the National University of Colombia.

A message from the Ontario Professional Planners Institute

November 8 is World Town Planning Day. On this day every year, planners in over 30 countries celebrate by hosting and engaging in activities to raise awareness of the importance of planning in their communities.

Julian Agyeman, a Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning at Tufts University, is a powerful advocate for the integration of social justice and urban sustainability. In his talk, he will be outlining the concept of just sustainabilities as a response to the ‘equity deficit’ of much sustainability thinking and practice.

The AGP is pleased to host the first installment of the Winter 2021 Speaker Series on January 28th, 2021 at11:00 am via WebEx.

The pandemic has disrupted many of our daily social interactions and activity patterns; however, in some ways, it has also brought us closer to our local communities. Finding contentment in ordinary places is more relevant now than ever, whether that is taking a walk in a familiar neighbourhood or spending time at a park.

The AKU Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) will be hosting a webinar about the complexities and challenges of water and global health.

The webinar will take place virtually on February 17, 2021, at 9:00 am. All students are welcome to join!
