Renison University College welcomes the Rev. Dr. Marc Jerry into his new role as Renison’s 12th president and vice-chancellor.
Dr. Jerry began his duties on Tuesday, July 2, after a 2700 km drive from Saskatchewan with his wife, Marnie, and daughter, Carmen. Dr. Jerry arrived at Renison following a successful full term as president of Luther College, a federated college of the University of Regina. Dr. Jerry holds degrees in economics with specializations in econometrics and quantitative methods, and graduate degrees in theology, and has over 25 years of experience in post-secondary teaching, research, and administrative experience.
“Moments like these are always bittersweet,” said Jerry, “while I very much enjoyed my time at Luther College and had the full support of its Board and the College to begin a second term, something was calling me to explore this new challenge. Renison epitomizes the values and principles that I hold close, and I look forward to helping lead the college through its current financial challenges while maintaining and advancing its unique and distinctive value proposition.” Dr. Jerry also took time on his first day in office to thank outgoing president, Dr. Wendy Fletcher, for her years of service: “Wendy has been very helpful to me in ensuring a smooth transition and has graciously agreed to continue to provide some onboarding and consultation in these early days, for which I am most grateful.”
Renison Board Chair, Karen Spencer, was on-hand upon Dr. Jerry’s first day in office to help welcome him into his new role. “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Jerry as Renison’s 12th president and vice chancellor,” said Spencer, “We know that we have a difficult road ahead and Dr. Jerry has the Board’s full and unequivocal support as he takes on his new role and duties.”
Dr. Jerry is committed to meeting and learning from the full Renison community, including faculty, staff, students, donors, alumni and community members.
