T.A. Bisson

T.A. (Thomas Arthur) Bisson (1900-1979) was an Asia Specialist with the Institute of Pacific Relations as well as University teacher. He was born in New York, New York. He received a B.A. (1923) in history from Rutgers University and an M.A. (1924) in the teaching of history from the Teacher’s College at Columbia University. He also taught at the University of California at Berkeley, at Western College for Women in Oxford Ohio, where he developed a program in International Studies, and at Renison College (1970-1973). He died in 1979. His papers collection can be found at University of Maine Library

He was a scholar and a prolific author on international relations with the far east, including the book Yenan in June 1937: Talks with the communist leaders. A personal copy was donated to the Renison Library for archival use.
