Scholarship submission: In a brief essay, video, or art project let us know: 1. Why you believe you are an excellent candidate for the Social Development Studies Equity and Diversity Entrance Scholarship. You may include your identification with a marginalized group. 2. As you look towards beginning your studies, discuss some of your goals for your education and beyond. How do you hope your degree in Social Development Studies will allow you to impact your community or world? Length: Essay (maximum 500 words), Video (5 minutes), Art projects must include an artist statement explaining the work (maximum 200 words). Applications will be evaluated based on effective communication of ideas and demonstration of financial need. If you require assistance with uploading your video or submitting your art project please contact the Registrar's Office at renison.registrar@uwaterloo.ca.

Demonstration of financial need is an important component of this scholarship. If eligible we encourage you to apply for a University of Waterloo Entrance Bursary by April 15. If you are not eligible and would like your financial need assessed for the purpose of this scholarship, please contact the Renison’s Registrar’s Office at renison.registrar@uwaterloo.ca for additional information.

Please note that as part of this application, the UWaterloo Awards Office will calculate your unmet need using a standardized formula based on your OSAP application. If you have special circumstances or needs beyond those described in your OSAP file or if you have not filed an OSAP application for particular reasons, you might wish to include some details here. Confidentiality
The Renison Registrar and Registrar’s Office staff will receive the application. All information submitted will be confidential, and digital information stored on a secure drive within the Registrar’s Office and in a password protected file. Applicants will be assigned a unique applicant ID number and will proceed to the selection committee on an anonymous basis. Applications will be retained for 2 years, and then destroyed. If there is a physical portion of your application (such as an art project) that you would like returned, rather than destroyed, please contact Renison’s Registrar’s Office.
Academic record release to selection committee
I authorize Renison University College and/or the University of Waterloo to release this application and financial need information, if applicable, to the appropriate selection committee(s).
Name Release
If I should win this award, I authorize Renison University College to include my name in its newsletters and events for donors, alumni, and the wider Renison community. Applicants are not required to agree to their name being released, and it will not impact their eligibility to receive this scholarship.
