Francisco Andrade Chavez

Assistant Professor, Thompson Rivers University

Francisco Andrade-Chavez is an Assistant Professor at Thompson Rivers University and an Adjunct Professor of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo with a deep passion for robotics and human-robot collaboration. His research interests revolve around making legged robots, particularly humanoid robots, useful outside labs.

This involves developing novel control frameworks, enhancing robotic sensing capabilities, designing wearable sensors, analyzing human motion both with and without contact with robots, and improving robots' base estimation. The current real-world applications he is pursuing are socio-physical human-robot collaboration and tele-existence with varying levels of shared autonomy.
