Arsh - Physics

Science Ambassador
arsh-ambassador-profile

Program: Honours Physics (Co-op), no minor yet but I'll be declaring one in Pure Mathematics in a term or two.

Year: 2nd

Stream of study: Co-op

Pronouns: He/Him

Career goal: I'd like to become a professor someday, teaching really appeals to me.

How I get involved: I have done SciEye orientation leader stuff, volunteered for open house back in March, likely doing media for Phys club starting this term, and doing a bunch of executive stuff for quantum club this term.

Why I love my program

I'd say I love the Honours Physics program because the content really speaks to me. Whether it ranges from the basics like Newton's Laws of Motion or much more complex areas such as Schrödinger's Equation, there's always something to love if you look hard enough. Also the professors and people are all super passionate for the field. No one in it is really here for the money unlike math or engineering for example (because there's none to be made lol), but rather because they too just enjoy physics.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo primarily because I would have back-up going here. None of my close friends were ever super academically oriented except for a few, so I didn't have any of them going here, but my brother is the Co-President of the Economics Club at Laurier and my cousin sister graduated from here just a year or two ago, so it would be better than going somewhere where I knew no one. Also, the resources at the University of Waterloo are very nice. You never feel like your missing something when in campus. After a couple terms you always know where to go for what you need; but it never gets boring around here. There's always new stuff to do.
