How I get involved: I am currently in my second term as a teaching assistant where I guide first year students, run labs, and provide academic support. I also volunteer with WUSA Women’s Centre where I hold office hours and offer peer support. Additionally, I volunteer at Grand River Hospital and have gained valuable experience shadowing several dentists. My involvement extends to working with WUSA events and serving as a residence ambassador with campus housing, where I have had the opportunity to assist with tours and engage with incoming students.
Why I love my program
I chose Honours Science because it offers a unique flexibility that allows me to explore a variety of disciplines through electives that genuinely interest me. This flexibility has enabled me to pursue minors in both Medical physiology and Psychology, two areas that fascinate me deeply. The integration of these fields within my studies has allowed me to understand the human body and mind from both a biological and psychological perspective, which I find incredibly engaging and rewarding. Honours science gives me the chance to tailor my education to my interests while preparing me for diverse career paths in health and science, making it a perfect fit for my academic and professional aspirations.
Why University of Waterloo?
I first became interested in the University of Waterloo when I attended a science tour as a high school student. The tour gave me an inside look into the university’s labs, diverse research opportunities, and the strong sense of community within the faculty of science. This experience solidified my desire to study here. Additionally, Waterloo’s reputation for providing valuable work experiences, even for non-coop students, was a major factor in my decision. I was excited about the many opportunities available to get involved on campus, work in various roles, and gain practical experience while pursing my studies.
