Stream of study: Regular

Pronouns: She/Her

How I get involved: I am actively involved in the University of Waterloo Science Society, where I serve as the Marketing Coordinator. In this role, I help promote events, manage communications, and create content that engages students in the Faculty of Science. Beyond academics, I am also part of the Chinese Christian Fellowship (CCF), which has given me a supportive community on campus and opportunities to build meaningful friendships while growing in my faith. In my spare time, I enjoy playing badminton at open recreation, which helps me stay active, meet new people, and maintain a healthy balance between academics and recreation.

Why I love my program

I love the Biomedical Science program because it combines a strong foundation in core sciences with the flexibility to explore different fields. For me, that means I can dive into biology, chemistry, and physiology while still having the freedom to take electives that match my personal interests and career goals. I really value that flexibility because it allows me to keep my options open, whether I decide to pursue professional school, research, or another health-related career. Furthermore, I love my program because it connects what we learn in class to real-world applications. Studying topics like human anatomy, genetics, and disease has made me more curious about how the human body works and how science can be used to improve health outcomes. It’s exciting to know that the knowledge I’m gaining now can be applied to real challenges in health care and research.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo because of its reputation for academic excellence and the unique opportunities it offers outside of the classroom. I was drawn to how Waterloo emphasizes both learning and application, whether that’s through experiential learning, leadership roles, or community involvement. I knew that I wanted a university where I could grow not just academically, but also personally and socially. Another big reason I chose Waterloo was the supportive and diverse student community. From the beginning, I saw that there were countless clubs, societies, and faith-based groups where I could connect with others who shared my values and interests. The idea that I could be challenged in my academics while also finding community through groups like the Science Society and the Chinese Christian Fellowship made me feel confident that Waterloo was the right place for me.
