Program: Biomedical Sciences

Year: 2

Stream of study: Regular

Pronouns: She/Her

Career goal: Medicine

How I get involved: I’ve gotten involved at Waterloo through clubs and volunteer opportunities, which has really helped me feel part of the campus community. I’m an active member of the Biomedical Science Student Association (BMSA), where I’ve been able to connect with other students and take part in events. I’m also involved with UW Laadliyan, a group that focuses on empowering South Asian women. In addition, I volunteered with a stem cell donor registration drive, which was a meaningful way to support health advocacy. These experiences have helped me meet people, give back, and grow outside the classroom.

Why I love my program

I’ve always known I wanted to pursue a career in medicine, so choosing Biomedical Sciences felt like the perfect fit. The program gives me a strong foundation in science while also opening doors to opportunities that will help me reach my future goals. I love how it connects what we learn in class to real world applications in health and medicine, which keeps me motivated and excited about my path.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo because of its welcoming and supportive atmosphere and strong academic programs. When I went to the Open House, I was impressed by the Science Ambassadors and staff who enthusiastically shared information about the programs and clubs. Waterloo offers a variety of resources and opportunities that make it an excellent place to pursue a degree in Biomedical Sciences. The university provides science students with many ways to get involved, build their skills, expand their networks, and grow both personally and professionally.
