Program: Biomedical Sciences

Year: 3rd

Stream of study: Regular

Pronouns: She/Her

Career goal: Optometry

How I get involved: Apart from being a Science Ambassador, I’m also involved in the residence community as a Don, where I get to help build a supportive and inclusive environment for students. On top of that, I’m an events coordinator for both UW Bhangra and UW Women in STEM, which gives me the chance to bring people together and celebrate both culture and community on campus!

Why I love my program

I’ve always been interested in science, and my program gives me the chance to explore a variety of courses while still preparing me for optometry school. I like that the course plan makes it easy to stay on track with the prerequisites I need for post-grad. In the upper years, there are even more electives, which means I can take classes that really catch my interest.

Why University of Waterloo?

I chose the University of Waterloo for a few reasons. I love the city since it’s full of students, which gives it a welcoming and homey feel. The campus is beautiful and has so many resources, making it easy to get involved and explore new opportunities. Additionally, Waterloo stood out because it’s home to the only English-speaking optometry school in Canada. On top of that, the supportive community and the chance to connect with like-minded students made it an easy choice for me.
