United College honours former students and residents with the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Emerging Alumni Award.
Purpose
These awards are designed to:
- Honour and recognize outstanding achievement by College alumni
- Inspire current students, staff and community members
- Build stronger connections between alumni and the broader College community
Selection Criteria
The awards will recognize alumni who have accomplished one of the following:
- Achieved notable professional success
- Contributed significantly to society, to their community or to United College/UW through leadership, service or philanthropic endeavours
- Demonstrated significant leadership in areas that are College academic priorities: Indigenous issues; human rights; social innovation and entrepreneurship
Eligibility and Process
Nominees must hold a University of Waterloo degree and have (1) lived in residence at United College for at least two terms or (2) completed either one of the College’s academic programs or (3) the GreenHouse program for social innovators.
The category of Emerging Alumni includes anyone whose degree was conferred within the previous ten years.
Selections are made by the Principal’s Alumni Advisory Council annually in the Fall term.
