Coming into university, many students don’t feel as though they have a full understanding of their mental health and how to ensure they are taking care of it. Mental wellbeing is how well a person can cope with the stresses, changes, and happenings of day-to-day life.
In 1972, Tom Dabrowski began living at St. Paul’s University College while attending the University of Waterloo to complete his math degree. Tom was a fun and outgoing person who was always building community. He helped to create lasting memories at the college with his peers who then became lifelong friends. The COVID-19 pandemic has made for many changes at St. Paul’s, none larger than those impacting our academic programming and residence life this fall.

This award is part of World Vision’sHero’s for Children Awards, which celebrate individuals who have a heart for children and have demonstrated effort to make the world a better place, ‘especially’ for children.
For the last seven years, GreenHouse has offered a place for students in the UWaterloo community to receive support on starting and launching ventures that have a social impact. On November 26, 2019, GreenHouse went out into the community instead in an effort to offer an opportunity to newcomer youth from across the region who might not otherwise have the chance to learn from the incubator.
