Monday, December 5, 2016

Two St. Paul’s GreenHouse social ventures, Curiato and Eggplantr, won funding at the most recent Velocity Fund finals. The Velocity Fund awards $375,000 annually to local startups.

Zied Etleb

Curiato, made up of GreenHouse alumnus Zied Etleb and partners Mathew Sefati and Moazam Khan, won a coveted $25,000 grand prize. The team is developing Ceylon Systems, a combined smart mattress and patient management interface that leverages cloud, IoT and artificial intelligence to prevent the occurrence of bedsores.

They also won GreenHouse Social Impact Funding and the Norman Esch Enterprise Co-op Award last year, and Zied was awarded a GreenHouse Fellowship this past summer.

Michael Wideman

Eggplantr, founded by current GreenHouse innovator Michael Wideman, won a $5,000 prize. Michael’s venture will make it easier to grow food gardens using a digital tool to generate and print permaculture planting layouts on biodegradable weed barriers. He is also competing in the GreenHouse Social Impact Fund finals, to be announced December 6

Congratulations to both GreenHouse social ventures!
