r of Applied Mathematics, Pharmacy, and Biology) received $100,000 in funding through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF). The award will fund infrastructure needed to support Layton's Canada 150 Research Chair research program, and to establish the Virtual Physiological Human Laboratory.

Researchers at the University of Waterloo have developed a way to better harness the volume of energy collected by solar panels. 

In a new study, the researchers developed an algorithm that increases the efficiency of the solar photovoltaic (PV) system and reduces the volume of power currently being wasted due to a lack of effective controls.

A Google Faculty Research Award propels quantum machine learning forward.

The Physics of Information lab, led by Professor Achim Kempf, was awarded one of the 2018 Google Faculty Research Awards. Kempf’s lab focuses on the physics of information, a wide research field that ranges from general relativity and quantum theory to information theory and artificial intelligence (AI).
