The Department of Applied Mathematics recently announced the creation of the Applied Mathematics Doctoral Award.The award, which is valued at $200 CAD, will be given annually for the best PhD thesis. The recipient will be chosen from departmental nominees for the Alumni Gold Medal and the Governor General’s Gold Medal. The first recipient of this award is Nancy Soontiens, who completed her PhD, entitled “Stratified Flow Over Topography: Steady Nonlinear Waves, Boundary Layer Instabilities and Crater Topography" in 2013.
