Title
Fluid-structure interactions: from fluid mechanics to mathematical biology
Abstract
Fluid-structure interactions are ubiquitous in our world: they can be as simple as an elastic filament buckling passively under fluid flow, or as complicated as active remodeling of the structure for propulsion in fluid. A lot of progress has been made in the studies of fluid-structure interactions that involve elastohydrodynamics and electrohydrodynamics in both passive and active systems.
In this talk I will present some of these results with an eye to model/understand physical mechanisms that underly complicated biological processes.
