Congratulations to Gregory Lui for receiving the AECOM Graduate Scholarship ($5000) in Water Research from the Water Institute! He is one of five graduate students at the University of Waterloo to receive an annual scholarship for water-related research. Gregory is a PhD student whose research involves synthesizing novel photocatalytic materials that can be used in renewable waste-water remediation and hydrogen fuel production.

The fourth-year design project group and start-up company Suncayr has been awarded the international runners-up prize in the James Dyson award competition. Their product is a color changing marker pen, full of UV responsive ink, that the user draws on their skin. When UV light hits the ink, it changes color – letting the user know that they need to reapply their sunscreen. They are the highest achieving Canadian entrant in history of this competition.
