Former student’s sports startup secures $10 million
A former student at Waterloo Engineering is a co-founder of a Toronto-based startup company that recently secured $10 million in funding to help fuel its growth.
Kevin Kim, who dropped out of the civil engineering program in his fourth year in 2011, launched Stadium Live Studios in 2020 to develop a digital playground for young sports fans. To continue reading this article please click here.

Prof awarded funding for rail safety research project
A professor at Waterloo Engineering has been granted almost $91,000 for a research project under a federal program to improve rail safety.
The proposal by Liping Fu, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, was one of 147 projects across the country announced today by Transport Canada.

Environmental Engineering Capstone team wins ESTEN Foundation Award by Placing 1st in Canada
As part of the Fourth Year Design Project and Capstone 2022, the team “Wastes to Treat Wastes Inc.” from Environmental Engineering received the ESTEN Foundation award by placing 1st in Canada, with an award value of $1,500.

The University of Waterloo's Engineers Without Borders Chapter presents our Sustainable Engineering Design Challenge! If you are a high school student passionate about learning more about the engineering design process, excited about talking & learning from current engineering students & professors, and collaborating with like-minded individuals then this event is for you!
Our competition will be on March 20th from 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm where you will be competing in teams of 2-4. You can sign up with or without a team (we will place you in a team with other students). Sign up for a night of learning, innovating, competing, and most importantly, winning prizes!
Join the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change for an informative discussion on the findings of Health Canada's latest national report, Health of Canadians in a Changing Climate. Lead authors, Peter Berry, Rebekka Schnitter and Paddy Enright, will reflect on the key insights from the wide-ranging report, and highlight the priority knowledge gaps facing Canadians. This will be followed by a Q&A with a panel of Waterloo's climate change and health experts who will reflect on Canada's next steps.

Researchers awarded $1.1 million for lab equipment
Seven professors at Waterloo Engineering were awarded a total of almost $1.1 million in federal funding this week through a program designed to help attract and retain top researchers.
The backing from the John R. Evans Leaders Fund, a program of the Canada Foundation for Innovation, is earmarked for infrastructure to ensure labs are equipped for world-class research and technology development.
