Can Participating in Co-op Increase Food Security?

A recent study from the University of Waterloo, School of Public Health Sciences, explored the impact of co-operative education on financial stability and food security.

Results indicated 24.0% of co-op, and 39.3% of non-co-op, students were categorized as living in moderately or severely food insecure households. Enrollment in co-op programming was associated with lower odds of living in moderately or severely food insecure households. However, when marginal food insecurity was included, there was no significant difference between the groups.
