To reinforce our campus community’s connection with nature and create opportunities for community building, a new pilot project installed five log benches that seat up to 25 people in the grassy area across from EV3.

Introducing a new collaboration between the Rekhi Foundation for Happiness and the University of Waterloo, aimed at exploring the science of happiness. This partnership, represented by Waterloo's Faculty of Environment, seeks to integrate happiness research with sustainability efforts. This initiative reflects a shared vision of fostering well-being and sustainability through scientific understanding.

At the Community Wealth Lab’s final convening, Environment students presented solutions to local systemic issues affecting the Region of Waterloo. From housing affordability to accessibility, transportation and food security, there were some transformative ideas.

Isabel Jorgensen, PhD candidate in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability, has been awarded a prestigious P.E.O. Scholar Award for her high level of academic achievement and potential to have a positive impact on society. Congratulations, Isabel!

On Friday, April 5, 2024, nearly 300 Environment students, faculty and staff came together at Federation Hall to celebrate the incredible Class of 2024.
