Honouring Frances Westley's induction into the Order of Canada with a conversation and reflection on the foundation and future of social innovation in Canada.

About this Event

Come gather and celebrate Frances Westley’s induction into the Order of Canada. We will open with a conversation between Frances and founding partners of the Social Innovation Generation network Tim Brodhead, former President, former President and CEO of The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation, and Al Etmanski, the co-founder of Plan Institute. This is an opportunity to reflect upon the foundation of social innovation research and action in Canada.

This conversation will be followed by a reflection from Melanie Goodchild, founder and Co-Director of the Turtle Island Institute and Faculty member of the Academy for Systems Change.

Following Melanie, we are excited to hear from a selection of Frances’ colleagues, students and emerging social innovation leaders, all of whom will offer some thoughts on the future of social innovation research and action for Canada and the world.

The panel of respondents includes

  • Per Olsson, Principle Researcher and Program Director at Stockholm Resilience Centre
  • Mandee McDonald, Managing Director at Dene Nahjo
  • Anita Abraham, Director, Experiential Learning, Ryerson University and fmr. Manager of Knowledge Mobilization at SiG Waterloo.
  • Jerome Morgan, Lead Strategist and Innovation Consultant, Wood Buffalo Strategy Group
