Congratulations to Dr. Neil Craik who's book, Liability for Environmental Harm to the Global Commons (Cambridge University Press, 2023), was awarded the 2024 Canadian Council on International Law’s Scholarly Book Award. The Award recognizes the work of Canadian scholars of international law that makes a substantial contribution to international law literature.

Dr. Craik is a law professor in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development. He co-authored the book with Tara Davenport from the National University of Singapore and Ruth Mackenzie from the University of Westminster. The text provides the first in-depth examination and evaluation of the current international legal regime governing liability for environmental harm to areas beyond national jurisdiction. This is a legally complex area that is of increasing salience due to emerging resource exploitation pressure and severe environmental degradation of the global commons.
The book is available as an open access resource on the CambridgeCore website.
