ENV's Sarah Burch named to national Clean 50

Monday, April 19, 2021

You know her as a researcher in Geography and Environmental Management, a Canada Research Chair, and now Sarah Burch is the newest memeber of the Faculty of Environment to join Canada's Clean 50.

Burch was selected as the winner in the Education & Thought Leadership category. She joins Environment researcher Blair Feltmate on the exclusive list.

Working with teams in nine countries around the world, Burch created and is using the international research partnership TRANSFORM to build capacity among small and medium enterprises to implement sustainability experiments that help make communities more just, inclusive, and low carbon. Having received a $2.4 million grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, TRANSFORM is focused on solving complex, real-world sustainability problems in close partnership with private sector, civil society, and government partners. Since the start of the COVID pandemic, their work has shifted to examine how sustainability contributes to the resilience of businesses in response to crises.
