The Government of Canada’s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) recently announced the funding recipients of their Insight Grants and Insight Development Grants in which five Faculty of Environment researchers were awarded project funding. Congratulations to Jennifer Asanin Dean, Brian Doucet, Marta Berbés, Rosella Carè and Seth Wynes. Additionally, The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has named Peter Crank, Christine Dow and Richard Petrone as recipients of the 2025 NSERC Discovery Grants. 

Dr. Michelle Rutty and Dr. Jeremy Pittman have been invited to the International Science Council’s newly formed Global Roster of Experts. Designed to bridge the gap between science and policy, the roster was formed to ensure that global decision-makers have access to credible, timely, and context-specific scientific advice that can drive progress on the most urgent global challenges. 

Prioritizing the Environment in Urban Sustainability Planning: Policies and Practices of Canadian Cities is a timely contribution to the ongoing debate regarding the ways and means to become a sustainable city. The book is co-authored by Dr. Natasha Tang Kai, a PhD graduate from the School of Planning, and Dr. Larry Swatuk, Professor in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development.
