Stream of study: Regular
Career goal: Eventually, I would like to become a commercial pilot.
Are you involved in any campus clubs?
I work as a part-time employee at the W-Store and I am also a volunteer Teaching Assistant for aviation ground school. There aren't any other clubs I'm currently in but I would like to join an intramural volleyball team in the winter!
Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo?
The sense of community in the Faculty of Environment is something like no other. Getting the chance to make friends all with the same interests is something that was very appealing to me. Not to mention, the environment buildings also provide some of the best places to study on campus.
What do you love most about your program?
Although this program does not have any co-op opportunities, it still provides a hands-on learning experience like no other. I love this program because it allows me to get a university degree while enjoying one of my largest passions. Getting the chance to fly and sharing those experiences with my friends has been incredibly rewarding. One of my favourite sights to see are the city lights below during night a night flight.
What problem would you like to solve?
The Faculty of Environment is interesting as it allows you to solve problems from multiple fields of interest. The aviation industry is something that has been growing dramatically, and with that, there is a looming pilot shortage already starting to show signs. Considering the current state of the planet, this program also offers insight how how this issue can be dealt with sustainably. This program aims to equip students with the knowledge required to be a modern pilot.
