Stream of study: Regular
Career goal: Find a unique field that I'm able to apply my skill set within. Currently, I'm exploring the huge field of law and legal studies, and I'm confident that my degree, Honours Knowledge Integration and Joint Legal Studies, will help me prepare for this path.
Are you involved in any campus clubs?
I'm involved in the Knowledge Integration Students Society (KISS) and the Legal Studies Society (LSS).
Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo?
I chose to study in the Faculty of Environment because it provides me with a varied skill set to approach emerging challenges in the future. I find that the Faculty of Environment focuses so much on layered or "wicked problems," allowing me to put together and apply all of the skills that I'm acquiring over this degree.
What do you love most about your program?
What I love most about my program, is the interdisciplinary perspective that it takes. My program allows me to consider the material I'm learning from every angle, formulating solutions that are adapted to real-world problems. A great example of this would be my upcoming Knowledge Integration field trip, where my whole cohort will have the chance to travel to Spain to apply different learning strategies to local museums.
What problem would you like to solve?
For me, I've always been interested in helping create a solution to a wicked problem. The Faculty of Environment has taught me the importance of taking a people-based approach, putting those who are most affected in the spotlight of the approach. Knowledge Integration is very focused with following the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG's), so I think combining the need to use a people-based approach with sustainable guidelines will be one of the key ways I can help tackle the future's most wicked problems.
