Stream of study: Co-op
Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo?
I chose the Faculty of Environment at Waterloo because of how well-established it was compared to other universities, and that they offered co-op for my program! I loved the idea of gaining work experience because it meant that I could explore my interests and have a chance to see what jobs I liked and disliked. The Faculty offered so many programs that suited my interests in things like conservation and climate change, but I ultimately settled on Planning and I'm loving it!
What do you love most about your program?
I love how interdisciplinary my program is and it's always interesting to learn about the way cities are designed can have a profound impact on our wellbeing! In ways we might not even realize! As I continue to learn, my interests broaden! We discuss issues related to transportation, housing affordability, urban sprawl, and more.
What problem would you like to solve?
I have a growing interest in transportation planning, especially the road safety and accessibility aspects of it. I want to make roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists. My program equips me with the necessary knowledge and stresses the importance of thinking from, and including, multiple perspectives, to work towards a solution.
