The Games Institute acknowledges that we are living and working on the traditional territory of the Attawandaron (also known as Neutral), Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. The University of Waterloo is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River.
The Canadian History Museum is looking for a Curator, Sport and Leisure in Ottawa/Gatineau. The Museum acquired the Avedon games collection from UW around 2009 and now has a robust collection of board games, as well as material on sport and leisure. The Games Institute is a partner of the Museum and a benefactor of this collection.
The Museum is looking for an interdisciplinary scholar who can bring their knowledge, insights and enthusiasm to research on our collections, exhibition work, and other public projects. Our staff pursue their own research projects while also stewarding and building the national collection. The Museum encourages folks with a games background to apply.
Interested candidates are welcome to reach out to Dr. Jenny Ellison directly at jenny.ellison@museedelhistoire.ca.
