Faculty member awarded for outstanding performance

Congratulations, Ian Milligan!

Effective May 1, 2005, in accordance with the 2003 Faculty Salary Settlement, the University of Waterloo established an Outstanding Performance Fund to reward faculty members for outstanding contribution in teaching and scholarship.

Among the 2014 Arts Faculty winners is History's very own, Ian Milligan!

Ian is an active member of the department, organizing speaker series, and representing History at various outreach and recruitment events! He is a Canadian, digital, and youth historian. His current work explores how historians can fruitfully use web archives and other repositories of big data. He also works and has worked in the area of postwar Canadian youth and labour. He came to the University of Waterloo in 2012 and teaches in the areas of postwar Canada, digital, youth, and historical methodologies. His first book, Rebel Youth: 1960s Labour Unrest, Young Workers, and New Leftists in English Canada, will be published in Spring 2014. He is currently principal investigator on a SSHRC Insight Development Grant looking at how historians can fruitfully use archived World Wide Web data.
