The Games Institute Welcomes Dean of Arts, Dr. Alexie Tcheuyap
On January 9th, the Games Institute (GI) welcomed a delegation from the Faculty of Arts including Drs. Alexie Tcheuyap (Dean of Arts), Anna Esselment (Associate Dean, Graduate Studies), and Ana Ferrer (Associate Dean, Research) for a tour of the Institute. The group had the opportunity to engage with GI researchers, view the GI ecosystem in action, learn about research produced, and chat with graduate members about their student experience.
The GI has always supported Faculty of Arts graduate students and faculty members , with many of the first student members at the GI hailing from the department of English Language and Literature.
Drs. Tcheuyap, Esselment, and Ferrer were introduced to many GI members and experienced many of the projects currently ongoing at the GI. This included learning about:
-
Dr. Geneva Smith’s postdoctoral research into Interactive Digital Narratives (IDNs);
-
The climate change game Illuminate developed by Pamela Maria Schmidt and Lia Black in collaboration with the Waterloo Climate Institute (WCI);
-
Dr. Randy Harris’ crowdsourcing game GoFigure;
-
Dr. Eugene Kukshinov postdoctoral research into Social VR; and
-
The Digital Oral Histories for Reconciliation project, championed by Dr. Kristina Llewellyn.
We hope everyone enjoyed their visit to the GI!
